The Manuel Antonio National Park Will Remain Open

The most visited national park in Costa Rica by thousands of local and foreign tourists is the Manuel Antonio National Park in Quepos. Located in the Central Pacific Coast, this Costa Rican natural gem just underwent a series of maintenance work that will allow the park to remain open to the public.

In recent days, the head of the Costa Rican health Department visited the park in order to evaluate its condition. There were a few issues that needed urgent attention before the green season arrives. The Health Department gave park authorities 4 months to comply with their requirements or they would have to close the park.

In just a matter of weeks, the Costa Rican Bureau of Tourism as well as the Ministry of Environment and Energy took matters under control and cleared the area from unnecessary material and water accumulations in order to prevent the growth of dengue fever transmitting mosquitoes.

The Bureau of Tourism will also provide the Manuel Antonio National Park with US0 million for all future maintenance and repair. The Quepos and Manuel Antonio region is one of the most important sources of income within the tourism industry as thousands of tourists come to Costa Rica exclusively to visit the national park.

Costa Rica hotels, tour operators, restaurants, pubs, local artisans and other related commerce would have been seriously affected should the Manuel Antonio National Park close.
