Sometimes it breaks my heart to read the papers or watch the news. It seems the media is always looking for the worst in everything. Why don’t they ever focus on what is good in a situation. I have found that if you live your life looking for the worst in everything you are going to be depressed physically and emotionally. Looking for what is good in every situation helps you bring more of what is good into your life.
Take the recent earth quake in Costa Rica, for example. It is horribly sad that twenty-three people have lost their lives and many homes have been destroyed. But, there is a bright side to this story as well. The good news is that over 4,195,000 people are still alive. The good news is that none of Costa Rica’s infrastructure was destroyed. The good news is that like with any tragedy, the people of Costa Rica are rallying together to help one another make repairs on the relatively small number of rural homes that were damaged or destroyed by the earthquake.
The reality of the situation is that the majority of people in the most populated areas of Costa Rica found out about the earthquake on the news. Were it not for the loss of lives I’d say this earth quake was really no big deal. Worse things happen in other parts of the world every day and people elsewhere are not always as willing to pull together and make things better as they are in this beautiful country. I hope everyone has a great week and can look at the positive things in life. Pura Vida.
