These are some of the things that you will need to watch for when you are choosing which agency you want to work with and represent your interest.
The first thing that you will want to do is to check and see if the agency you are considering is reputable. It will be very helpful if you know someone that has purchased real estate in Costa Rica and can recommend an agency. Ask them if the agency effectively met there needs. If not, you can turn for references to other agencies and people. If you find or have read anything bad about a company that, you are considering then pass them over immediately and continue your search. Try to find an agency that works in or close to the area that you are searching. This way they can give you the most up to date information about the current markets in the area and it will save you time and money in the end.
Once you have narrowed your search down to two or three companies then you will want to start checking on the individual agents. Ensure that you choose an agency that has licensed agents. Costa Rica does not require a real estate agent to have a license, so if you find an agency that has gone to the time, trouble, and expense of having all of their agents licensed, then they should be a company that you can trust. These companies will charge for the services that they offer, but it will seem like a bargain compared to the US. With this being said, you will also want to shop around for the agency that will offer the most help for the least money.
