ProWorld Creates Volunteering Opportunities in Costa Rica

FIFA/CIES Program Launched for the Third Time in Costa Rica

The third edition of the UCR/FIFA/CIES Program was launched in San Jose, Costa Rica. This is a program of the Physical Education and Sport University of Costa Rica and 25 students are expected to attend this edition of the program. The wonderful thing about this program is that the students came from different fields of sports. Since the program was first incepted, it has gained gradual popularity amongst the sports community in Costa Rica.

The i-MiEV is Now in Costa Rica

The Costa Rican government has and still is a forerunner when it comes to taking environmentally conscious initiatives and it has showed that once again by introducing the i-MiEV into the country. The i-MiEV is a new generation electric vehicle by the Mitsubishi Motors Corporaton (MMC) and will be used mainly to carry government affiliates and officials of electric companies in Costa Rica.

Costa Rica is serious about its environmental responsibilities and aims to reduce its environmental footprints significantly by reducing its carbon emissions to zero by 2021.

Privatization of Costa Rica’s Puerto Limon-Moin

Costa Rica has been going on a round of privatization. Just a few weeks ago, the telecom industry was finally privatized and now, Costa Rica’s Puerto Limon-Moin has also been privatized. A 33-year concession was awarded to APM Terminals to operate Moin Container Terminal.

APM Terminals has its headquarters in the Netherlands and is charged under the terms of the concession, to design, finance, construct, operate and maintain the new terminal. Obtaining this concession is certainly an achievement for APM as this port handles close to a million tons of cargo in a year.

Presidential Challenge of the Billfish Tournament Soon

Big game fishing is a big deal in Costa Rica, with several big game fishers coming from out of the country. That would be the case from 24 to 27 March when the Presidential Challenge of Costa Rica’s Billfish tournament takes place Playa Carillo.

The Presidential Challenge of the billfish tournament has been an ongoing tournament for the past 14 years and has been instrumental in raising funds for the Billfish Foundation, a nonprofit devoted to preserving the billfish population.
