Life is all about perspective. If you live in the United States you might be surrounded by people who believe there is a major recession happening in the economy. Friends and relatives may be losing their jobs and even their homes. The funny thing is, from where I'm sitting the economy is booming. Thirty major companies like Amazon, Astra Zeneca, Experian and Firestone moved part of their operations to Costa Rica in 2008 alone. And like I mentioned just the other day, more companies are moving jobs to Costa Rica in 2009, like the 3000 new jobs coming from HP.
The great thing about the jobs that are opening up in Costa Rica is that they aren't just jobs for unskilled workers; these are jobs that require skilled workers and those with degrees in finance, computers, medicine and more. All those jobs that are leaving the US aren't just disappearing, they are moving to countries like Costa Rica to avoid being taxed and regulated to death by the US government. Many people in the US are starting to get the same idea and moving to a country like Costa Rica where they can experience all the beauty of nature with the ocean on either side and plenty of lush green forests, sandy beaches, mountains and rivers in between and escape the heavy taxes and declining economy.
What about the real estate market? It's growing and there is plenty of room for growth. There are over 51,000 square kilometers of land in Costa Rica and less than 4 million people. Beautiful new homes and condos are being built every day and plenty of lived-in homes are being sold as well. There is something for everyone, no matter your price range and the US dollar still goes a long way in Costa Rica.
It's definitely all about perspective and the perspective from Costa Rica is incredible. I am so glad to be sitting here in this paradise surrounded by more good news on a daily basis. What about you? Are you satisfied with where you are?
