Jaco Beach Monthly Events

Hi Everyone. Another day in Paradise. Below is a list of some of the events that are coming up in Jaco and the surrounding areas. I will be talking more about these events and putting up pictures as we attend them. Thanks for reading and please send me any ideas of topics that you would like me to discuss, photograph, or video for you. I’m your eyes here in Costa Rica.

NEXT THURSDAY FEBRUARY 12^TH THE CENTRAL PACIFIC CHAMBER OF COMMERCE IS GOING TO CELEBRATE THEIR THIRD ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP AND EDUCATION DRIVE.
The Central Pacific Chamber of Commerce is inviting all businesses in the community to their third annual membership and education drive to be held in the rooftop Bar and Restaurant: “Sacagomas” in Canciones del Mar Hotel. We will be raising funds for the Chamber and for their school uniform project for the schools of Garabito. Information about membership and the benefits of belonging to our organization will be presented. If you have any questions, please contact Chamber’s office at 2643-2853. We hope you can attend this meeting. It is very important for us and for our community.

THE CENTRAL PACIFIC CHAMBER OF COMMERCE IS COLLECTING SCHOOL SUPPLIES FOR KIDS WHO WILL BEGING THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2009.
It is a new school year and many children are returning to their schools this month. For this reason the Central Pacific Chamber of Commerce is collecting education supplies to help children with limited resources. We need: backpacks, uniforms, shoes, notebooks, pens, pencils, education materials, teacher supplies or money to buy it. We estimate that $40 will but one child their complete package. CAFE HERMOSA IS LOCATED ON THE THIRD FLOOR OF SURF INN HERMOSA AND IS NOW OPEN FOR BREAKFAST AND DINNERS.

KREWE SIRENA CARNAVAL IS INVITING YOU TO MARDI GRAS ESTERILLOS OESTE ON SATURDAY, FEB. 21^ST 2009.
Next Saturday 21^st is going to be a parade at 2:00 pm starting at the Soccer Field in Esterillos. Decorate your Floats, Cars, Trucks, Bicycles, Horses. The prizes to be given for best decorated. ***BEADS, CANDY, DOUBLOONS, AND MORE*** Will be party & dance after the Parade. Pre-register your floats, truck, cars, horses, wagon, tractors and trailers for the parade on Saturday, Feb. 14^th, 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at El Vago, Esterillos Oeste. This activity is for the Fundraiser for chairs and supplies for the school in Esterillos Oeste, donations welcome. SATURDAY, APRIL 18^TH AT 4:00 PM IN JACO, THERE WILL BE THE EXTREME CHALLENGE JACO 2.0.
Saturday April 18^th will be the Reto Extremo Jacó 2.0 (Extreme Challenge Jacó 2.0) race at 4:00 pm. This event is a race that begins in front of the Municipality of Garabito and travels a distance of 10 kms (asphalt – sand – asphalt) to get back to the Municipality. The course is totally flat and there will be hydration every 2 kilometers. If you wish to participate, you can enter in the Cantonal Committee of Sports Garabito M -F from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 pm, Monday to Saturday Pavas Runners from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 pm, Runners Curridabat 9: 00 am – 6:00 pm, Heredia Runners from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 pm and Sports Tibás of 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 pm. The pre-sale is January 10^th to February 28^th and the regular sale is from March 1^st to April 10^th (includes T-shirt, medal and hydration). The categories are: children, seniors, Special Olympics and walk. There will be great prizes and raffles and tennis apparel sponsors. II JACÓ ART FESTIVAL 2009 WILL BE FROM JANUARY 31^ST TO FEBRUARY 8^TH ON THE NEW RECREATIONAL ECOLOGICAL PARK IN JACÓ.
To celebrate the II Jacó Arts Festival 2009, from January 31^st to February 8^th, the Municipality of Garabito will open the new Recreational and Ecological Park on Pastor Díaz Av. in Jacó, the grand opening will be on January 21^st. There will be different activities for all family members. This Festival will offer concerts, exhibitions of photography, painting, sculpture, crafts fair, theater, circus, parades, masquerades, cimarronas, educational workshops, surprises. FALCON INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL CURRENTLY HAS OPEN REGISTRATION FOR SECOND SEMESTER CLASSES.
Falcon offers affordable classes from Nursery though high school and is accredited by the Costa Rican Ministry of Education. BASEBALL TEAM OF GARABITO IS LOOKING FOR SPONSORS TO PARTICIPATE IN THE FIRST DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP.
The baseball team is looking sponsors because they were invited by the Federation of Baseball FECOBEISA to participate in the First Division Championship which starts on Sunday February 15^th. As a benefit of this sponsorship, the baseball team of Garabito placements of banners of the sponsors in sites and days of the event. This team is supported by the Municipality of Garabito and Sports Committee of the canton.
