You know, I’ve mentioned in previous blogs that Jaco has it all and that is becoming truer all the time. I am certainly never lacking for "something to do" here. Not only can you find all the best that nature has to offer from lush tropical rain forests to breathtaking mountains to killer waves for surfing, but you can also find numerous cultural experiences and activities the whole family can enjoy.
Take the recent Jaco Art Festival, for instance. My wife and I had a wonderful time over this past weekend viewing unique artwork, listening to live music and enjoying all the wonderful foods that the vendors were selling. We even had one of those caricatures drawings done of us–those artists amaze me with how they really bring out your personality, even if they do give you a really big head.
We both really enjoy people watching and the art festival provided a great opportunity for that. There were so many beautiful families and interesting couples enjoying the festivities. I saw one father carrying his little boy on his shoulders and I remembered my father doing that with me when I was a boy. That reminded me that one of the things that really drew me to this area was that I could see raising a family here. There is a wholesome feel to this place that is reminiscent of the US back in the "old days".
This art festival was started as part of a national campaign to promote culture and the arts in Costa Rica and that is a great thing for our community. Events like the Jaco Art Festival are just one more reason to love this country and its people.
